Daniel Snyder’s Intense Focus on Philanthropy and Professional Success

While Daniel Snyder had a fairly average childhood while growing up close to Washington, D.C., his adult life has been notably unique. He had considerable success as an entrepreneur earlier in his adult years, and this success has provided the foundation for Snyder to have a powerful and positive impact on millions of people worldwide.

After graduating from college, Daniel Snyder’s interests turned to professional endeavors like founding inVentiv Health, Red Zebra Broadcasting and Snyder Communications, Inc. The most successful venture, Snyder Communications, Inc., was founded in 1985 and sold for $2.3 billion in 2000. At the time of its sale, the company had a gross annual revenue in excess of $1 billion. It also employed more than 12,000 employees worldwide across 77 branch locations.

His stunning professional success paved the way for Daniel Snyder to make a substantial impact on others in his local community and even on the other side of the world. Over the last two decades, Snyder’s reach has been on an individual level in combination with his wife, Tanya, and through a notable charitable organization that he launched. The organization, which is known as the Washington Charitable Foundation, was established around the time he became the primary owner of the Washington Redskins franchise. In alignment with Snyder’s focus on social justice, this franchise is now known as the Washington Football Team.

The majority of Daniel and Tanya Snyder’s philanthropy personally has been at the local level, and some efforts have reached across the country. Specifically, they donated tens of thousands of dollars to support the reconstruction of a historic schoolhouse. They also have made sizable financial donations to the Beacon House in support of at-risk teens, the NFL’s Salute program and the Gary Sinise Foundation. Through additional personal donations to both the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Children’s National Hospital, these important entities have been able to expand their physical presences and their overall operations. In recognition of the Snyder’s donations, the expansion facilities were named in their honor.

With the tremendous turmoil created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, Tanya and Daniel Snyder made great strides to support their local community. These efforts include making a financial contribution of $250,000 to a social injustice group and a $100,000 donation to the community’s food bank. The Snyder’s also offered substantial assistance for the development of a testing center at the NFL football team’s stadium.

While his personal initiatives have been profound, Daniel Snyder’s good works have also run through their Washington Charitable Foundation. Locally, this organization has helped students at elementary, junior high and high schools through various events and programs. For example, the foundation has provided financial support and generated awareness for Loads of Love. Loads of Love currently is a source of clean clothing for underprivileged children. By supporting children in more than 80 local schools, Loads of Love helps them to find a higher level of academic success. Additional endeavors include supporting literacy movements that touched approximately 40,000 younger children and wellness initiatives that reached 12,000 junior high school students.

Beyond the local area, Snyder has used his influence via the Washington Charitable Foundation to deliver much-needed aid to areas in crisis. This has included emergency relief to U.S. Gulf Coast states that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina and Caribbean countries that were left in shambles after Hurricane Matthew. Snyder also offered a tremendous amount of aid to tsunami-ravaged Asian countries in 2004.

In addition to having two facilities named after him because of his generous financial contributions, Daniel Snyder has been recognized in other notable ways. For example, he was commended at the 2014 Hope Awards Dinner. He has also been inducted into the elite Greater Washington Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. With approximately $30 million dollars raised or donated and millions of lives touched by Daniel Snyder to date, his positive impact on the world around him will continue to grow.
